Origin Story of the G Suite!

Origin story is similar with the concept story but it is more tactical and it depicts more about how users research, study, and take actions to reach their goals. The project of this week is to create an origin story comic for one of the three digital products I chose.

Working process:

The first thing I did is to develop three origin story arcs for the three digital products I chose.

I chose to go with the G Suite because I think it is the most expandable one and I feel like it won't limit me too much during the creation.

The second thing I did is to create a draft for the comic on my sketch book.

After this, I scan the images and import them into the Photoshop to color them.

And I imported them into Mural to further edit the texts.

As I was making progress on Mural, I realize that I was missing the important info about how the character takes actions to examine how the product might help her.

So I made up two blocks in the second page to clarify that.

And here is my final work.

Reflection:

During this project, I have learned about the origin story. This is the first time I get to know that the origin stories are more tactical than normal concept stories, and they focus more on how the users make their decisions and gradually take actions to achieve their goals.

I also learned a lot from my friend, John. While we were discussing about this project, he showed me some of his techniques to create comics. Even though the 'tracing line technique' was shared by Vincent in the class earlier, but John sure further developed this technique by sophisticating the backgrounds in each block. It really is a huge takeaway for me in this project.

What I think I should do better in this project is probably that I should plan my storyboard more carefully before I edit it in Photoshop. I almost forgot to show how the character takes actions to examine the product which is supposed to be a big part in this origin story. The good thing is that I did double check the story arc and found out this failure.😂
